Development of an integrated path for the production of 2nd generation bio-fuels starting from lignocelluloses

The research aims at enhancing formulations of acid catalysts (heteropolyacids, modified zircons, phosphates, etc) for esterifying glycerol with mixtures of short chain acids originating from fermented lignocellulose.

The objectif is to correlate the number and force of the active sites of the solids with their activity and resistance to deactivation, their selectivity towards mono-, bi- or tri-glycerides, and their ability to be recycled.
