Recherche
The researches led aim at improving (re-discussing) the current understanding of the spatio-temporal modalities of evolution. The Apoidea (i.e. bees; Insecta, Hymenoptera) are used as a primary biological model.
Phylogenies for the target-groups are inferred based on mixed (morphological and molecular (DNA)) datasets. The spatial dimension is inferred from the available knowledge of the contemporary distributions (gathered using database records for mapping, GIS work,…). The phylogenetic topologies are time-calibrated using molecular clocks (and some other sources of evidences: (e.g.) fossils). Results from phylogeny and ancestral distributions inferences and from molecular clock are compared and confronted to picture a multidimensional outline of the studied groups evolution.
