The aim of the CARE is to study the links between the global warming and the ecosystems :

  • Evaluate the effect of global warming on the agro-ecosystems ;
  • Measure the green house gas exchanges in the ecosystems in order to assess the impact of the agro-ecosystems and their management on the global warming ;
  • Develop adaptation strategies to reinforce the plant tolerance to the pressures induced by the global warming.

To reach these aims, Environment Is Life relies on two main infrastructures: the Ecotron for in vitro simulations, measurements and modelling and the Lonzée Terrestrial Observatory (LTO), part of the ICOS network, for in vivo measurements on production crops.
